Skyla Sapphire stretches its old-world romance around the dramatic points of a marquise center. Blue sapphires bring a regal note of color to the ornate composition, while hand-engraved details give the metal itself the richness of an heirloom.
Those details are carved by hand, not stamped or generated by a machine. Using a sharp graver, an artisan cuts the pattern into the metal line by line, controlling depth and curve through hand pressure alone. It is a dying jewelry art with relatively few skilled engravers left, and the engraving on a ring like Skyla requires at least a full day of dedicated bench work. When original artwork is developed for an engraved design, the process becomes even more remarkable: a drawing is translated by eye and hand into precious metal at miniature scale.
