Lexandra softens the exacting geometry of a princess diamond with a setting that seems to grow around it. A leafy split shank, diamond accents and a hidden halo surround the square center, while four hand-engraved leaves form the prongs that cradle it.
The band tapers from approximately 3.05mm to 1.95mm, giving the botanical architecture room to unfold before narrowing toward the center. About 0.095 carats of colorless VS diamonds add glints of light through the leaves and beneath the stone.
The engraved leaves are genuine handwork. An artisan uses a graver—a sharp engraving tool—to carve each vein and contour directly into the metal, one deliberate cut at a time. There are very few jewelers left who can execute this kind of engraving at a high level; it is a dying art, and the engraving portion alone can occupy a full day at the bench. When we develop original artwork for a ring, this is the extraordinary part: a drawing becomes permanent relief in precious metal through the engraver's hand.
