Astrid feels grown rather than assembled. Vine-like strands contour around the finger, blue-green sapphires glow beside the oval center, and hand-engraved bark gives the metal the tactile irregularity of something found in nature.
The band shifts from approximately 5.0mm to 1.60mm, allowing the sculptural vine to feel substantial in one moment and delicate in the next. Two eye-clean sapphires totaling about 0.08 carats bring an unexpected wash of color to the organic composition.
That bark texture is carved entirely by hand. Using a graver—a small, razor-sharp engraving tool—an artisan cuts each line and crevice directly into the metal, building the surface mark by mark. True hand engraving has become a dying art in fine jewelry; very few craftspeople still possess the skill, and the engraving alone can take a full day of concentrated bench work. The slight individuality of every cut is precisely what makes the texture feel alive.
