History of
Ken & Dana Design

1970s

Humble Beginnings

Ken’s father Michael is introduced to the gemstone trade in 1970s Hong Kong, where he eventually starts a small factory cutting and polishing color gemstones.

Ken’s mother Annisa joins the team, and with her help, Gleam is established and the duo travels to Europe to promote their ware.

Europe Trip

From its Hong Kong origin, Gleam eventually expands to open a factory in Guangzhou, China, and offices in the United States. By the early 2000s, Gleams’ client list grew to include fame jewelers such as Tiffany’s, David Yurman, and many independent boutiques and manufacturers across the globe.

2002

Ken joins Gleam in New York City in 2002, with ambitions to create a retail brand. In the early years, he tinkers with branding, design, collaboration, distribution, and getting the word out.

We partnered with Doo.Ri and made accessories for her runway shows.

We also partnered with Geren Ford.
