Laura and I have actually known each other since middle and high school, but it wasn’t until right before college that our mutual best friend reconnected us. (Shoutout to Daniel, because clearly it worked.) We started dating at the beginning of college and, honestly, every up and down since then has only proven how well we fit together. We’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders, and when we’re not working, we’re usually eating or planning our next trip. Travel and food are basically our shared love language.
When it came time to find a ring, Ken & Dana Design was a no-brainer. The one-of-a-kind options, the ability to customize, and the craftsmanship were exactly what we wanted. Laura had her heart set on a green diamond from the start—easier said than done, by the way—but KDD made it happen. They helped us pick out the perfect stone for the Delaney setting, and they made the whole process so smooth, whether virtually or in person.
Now, Laura is very hard to surprise, but somehow I pulled it off with a trip she knew nothing about. I chose Asheville because it’s where we celebrated our third anniversary, and it’s always held a special place for us. She loves flowers, gardens, and anything vintage, so I planned to propose at the quilted garden exhibit at the North Carolina Arboretum (Perfect, I know!) Of course, right before we went, a huge thunderstorm rolled through, and I was so nervous the whole plan was going to be ruined. But somehow, the skies opened up, the light was perfect, and it felt like the moment was meant to be. I asked, she said yes, and we celebrated with dinner at The Marketplace AVL. The whole weekend felt magical, and then, because we don’t do anything halfway, we hopped on a flight to London less than 48 hours later. (Told you we love to travel. This ring has already been to the UK!)
We’re still so in love with this ring! It’s a conversation starter everywhere we go, and we can’t thank KDD enough for bringing it to life. Something tells me this ring will make its way around the world right along with us. :)
