In their own words:
Sydney and I met in college at UNC Charlotte through the campus a cappella group. We began dating in 2019 after singing together for a couple of years and at this point, I was the President and she was the Music Director, so music was a constant in our relationship. After graduating, we were long distance for a couple years before we both moved back to Charlotte, NC in the summer of 2023.
Fast forward to 2024: I’d been looking for engagement rings in the spring and found KDD online. Sydney wanted a ring that was understated but beautiful, and after looking through the different designs, I fell in love with the Adamaris. It was simple but unlike a lot of rings I’d personally seen, so I knew she would love it.
We were planning to celebrate our five year anniversary in October with a roadtrip to western North Carolina because we’re both big outdoorsy people. I had a mountaintop proposal planned, but unfortunately had to quickly pivot because of Hurricane Helene. So for two weeks, my sister and I frantically researched and scoped out local parks that Sydney and I could go to for our private picnic date. Because we wanted it to strictly be just the two of us and I had experience with photography/videography, I just told her I’d be “vlogging” our picnic before taking our anniversary pictures as a way to capture the proposal without giving the surprise away. And come 10/11/2024, we went on a small picnic at Ballantyne’s Backyard that ended up turning into our big surprise engagement. It was quiet, intimate, and truly a day we’ll both remember for the rest of our lives.
