Hayden and Cody were high school sweethearts, but their love was always meant to be: they were born just over 24 hours apart at the same Atlanta hospital.
Their first conversation in high school was about their shared love of chips and salsa and their one-day-apart birthdays — from there, they went to a senior year homecoming dance and Cody began teaching Hayden guitar on the weekends. (She didn't really care about learning guitar; she just wanted to spend time with him!) They began dating officially on March 22, 2011, and they both knew early on that they'd met their soulmate, the person they wanted to spend the rest of their life with.
The two have been inseparable ever since, even during the long-distance part of their relationship after Hayden moved to New York to pursue journalism. Cody followed, and for the past six years, they've been building their life together in Brooklyn, complete with their rescue corgi, Jelly.
They chose Ken and Dana for their romantic designs and unique detailing, and it was the best ring-design experience they could've asked for. The final product was a perfect representation of their love. Cody proposed at 620 Loft & Garden, the rooftop garden venue at Rockefeller Center, after months of planning with Hayden's best friends in a group chat called "The Team." He chose the venue because he and Hayden had seen it in a TV show in high school and thought it was romantic, and a few years ago in New York, they attended a Valentine's Day event there together.
Hayden was fully surprised because her friend Hunter had told her she was going to his friend's restaurant launch event; when she got upstairs, she saw Cody and he gave her his speech about their longtime love. The two can't wait to start the next chapter of their lives together.
