This place is so amazing that I actually run out of superlatives describing it.
I went here casually browsing for a ring for a surprise engagement I had planned. My fiance did not know I would be proposing and we’d never even discussed rings, so this was a nerve wracking venture. Furthermore, I didn’t know the first thing about rings, and I was actually just going to do recon work expecting to make my decision after exhaustive trips across the island and settling for a big box store due to budgetary restraints. Turns out that after my first visit to Patty and Ken everything else just paled in comparison.
Not only did Patty and Ken meticulously work with me to accommodate my needs. I never felt pressured to spend more money, which tends to happen in other places. They walked me through the entire process of selecting a stone and gave me a ton of options. In the end, I paid them what I consider a substantial amount of money without blinking because I felt so confident and good about my decision. To give you a sense of how monumental that is, I tend to cringe when I have to pay more than $6 for a beer in a bar.

Very rarely do you find exactly what you are looking for, within budget. On top of that, having Patty with me through the whole process, sending me updates on the progress, and answering my questions, put the whole experience over the top. 5 Stars isn’t enough to describe this company!
”Even though I live like half of the country away, I still felt very comfortable purchasing one of their beautiful and unique rings. Patty communicated quickly over the email and sent me pictures and videos of rings that I liked. ”My fiance purchased my ring here last November and I absolutely LOVE it. The craftsmanship is incredible – the ring is delicate, feminine and organic-looking. Friends and strangers have literally gushed over it, and wish good reason.
Plus, the service is excellent too! The ring was about a quarter size too large and I brought it into Patty (who was very sweet, and remembered my fiance well) who helped me decide the proper size. I reluctantly gave my beautiful ring over for a resizing but had it back in no time at all! I also requested one of the free cleanings that comes with the ring (recommended every six months) and it looked more stunning than ever.
I highly recommend them if you are looking for something more exciting, and created with more love, than your standard engagement ring.
”One saturday I went looking for an engagement ring. IT was supposed to be an engagement ring bar crawl. Essentially I had a bunch of places mapped out to look at rings and stop at bars along the way to help take the stress off. I had seen Ken and Dana designs online and loved some of the rings. I really wanted something personal, not diamond district run of the mill rings. Fortunately or unfortunately, the ring crawl ended shortly after it started. I went to Ken and Dana and fell in love with the Devi ring. Ken and Patty were great in helping to pick out a ring and make the process so easy. They are the nicest couple you can possibly meet. The experience was amazing. They are so friendly and treat you with welcoming and open arms. Such a different experience from the other places I had seen searching for rings with my brother. They kept me up to date every minute with the progress of my ring. Also, where else do you get a parting hug goodbye? I can’t recommend them enough. I got the ring and it couldn’t be more beautiful. This should be your first stop shopping for any jewelry purchase.
”First off, I am a guy. A guy who is very ignorant when it comes to rings/ring shopping. I have bought necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. but these pale in comparison when shopping for a ring, nay THE ring. I live outside of Nashville, TN and looked at literally thousands of rings and then I saw it: The Priscilla. I couldn’t even tell you how I stumbled upon the Ken and Dana Design website. I actually think I had glanced at my girlfriend’s (soon to be fiancee, hopefully!) computer screen and saw it briefly and it was stored in the far recesses of my brain. I finally made the call and spoke with Patty. From the very first conversation, even when I wasn’t 100% that I was going to purchase something from them, she talked to me like we had known each other for years. I’m sure I got on her nerves with all of my petty questions or concerns and what probably felt like unending emails and phone calls. But not once did I sense anything but joy and helpfulness from her. She never rushed me, she was extremely patient and wanted to make sure I was comfortable with everything. The fact she was simply helping me in anyway to take this next step in my life seemed like what she was put on this Earth to do. And if she’s done it for me, someone she’s never even met in person mind you, I know she’s done it for others and will continue to do so.
The fact that I went out on a limb and had them make a ring for me when I had never even physically seen any of them was a huge step of faith. But any doubts or worries I may have had were completely erased when I opened that box and saw the most beautiful piece of jewelry I have ever seen. I am supposed to be waiting a few months to pop the question, but I feel like I am doing this ring a disservice to this gorgeous specimen by keeping it in a box for so long. When I ask my special gal to be mine forever, I am 100% confident she’ll say “yes”-if not because of me, then because she’ll do anything to have that ring on her finger. Heck, this ring would make me say “yes”!

”When I decided to look for an engagement ring, I’ll admit I was a little intimidated. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, or that much about rings, and I didn’t want to get talked into anything by a sales person at a jewelery store. Patty talked me through the process step by step. I was able to pick out a diamond, and a design for my budget. Ken & Dana’s designs are unique and special, and hteir diamonds are beautiful. All their materials come from conflict-free zones as well, which was reall yimportant to me.The ring they made for me i amazing. My FIANCE loves it. I don’t like writing reviews, especially not when I have to create a Yelp account just to do so, but Ken & Dana are worth it. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
”I can hardly even begin to describe how much I love my beautiful engagement ring. I first came across the Ken & Dana website a few years ago when I was still in college and instantly fell in love with their design aesthetic. I even emailed all my friends the link to their site and said if anyone ever needed direction in buying my engagement ring they should send them there ;) And then it finally happened. ”THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! My fiance’, Andrew, worked closely with Ken to design my dream engagement ring. He gave me the ring yesterday by dropping on one knee along with his son on the shores of Lake Michigan in my hometown. I first discovered Ken and Dana design by way of Pinterest. Like most girls, I’ve always dreamed of what my engagement ring would look like. I showed Andrew a picture of a ring I fell in love with on the website. Andrew, along with Ken, went above and beyond by creating my ring in a matter of a week. Andrew called to order the ring and claims he has never experienced better personal and caring customer service than he did from Ken. Andrew hand picked my diamond and assumed Ken would just send us the setting sans diamond. Ken said NO and had Andrew ship him the stone. Andrew shipped the stone on a Monday. Ken received it on Tuesday, and Andrew was able to propose on Friday of the same week.
We will be traveling to New York this summer to choose our wedding bands and to thank Ken in person!

”For a change, all these 5-star reviews on Yelp are there for a good reason. We were looking for an engagement ring that was different from all the other shiny boring stuff that exists at every jeweler. We quickly set up an appointment with Ken and Patty (we worked almost exclusively with Patty), and explained that we did not want any diamonds, wanted something different, and something not too extravagant. They listened, and in the end, we selected the first ring that Patty proposed to us. Two meetings later (one to select the sapphire, another to pick it up) and we had our ring. It is perfect – we love it, and it was quite reasonably priced considering how wonderful it is.
Patty is quite the wonderful character. Be prepared to swap life stories and to laugh a lot. And don’t be embarrassed if she is more excited about your life event than you are. It is a good thing, not a bad thing. We will definitely go back to get our wedding rings.

Patty from K+D was fantastic; she worked with me to find the ideal day to send the ring to my business address. I was worried it would arrive on a weekend, but she made sure it arrived on a weekday, and during business hours.
The ring itself? The lady was smiling from ear to ear for two days straight; I’d say that’s a pretty good endorsement.

”Before KDD I attempted to collaborate with another jeweler in Philadelphia. They were so unorganized and had awful communication with each other. The process took about 7 months before I decided that they were completely useless. I dropped them and went to KDD.
I picked Ken & Dana because of their styling. I was drawn to the organic forms mainly. Patty mainly assisted me and really helped me out in a pinch. KDD bent over backwards to make sure that the ring got to the intended destination on time, even though I presented them with some complicated issues. I was a bit shocked when i opened the ring box. ”My husband bought me the Sati for our wedding in December of 2012 and I adore it. Customer service was top notch then, but even better a year later. I (foolishly) decided to use a a jeweler near my home to craft the matching Aurora e-ring. Long story short, the local Jeweler ripped us off financially, and also compromised the integrity of the Sati because they either used heat or something else that caused me to lose 2 of the stones. This only happened when the ring was with the jeweler to design the engagement ring, although the denied it. Sounds confusing, but bottom line Patty took the Sati ring back, reinforced it and cleaned it – and returned it to me in perfect condition. I tell everyone about K&D designs; they are truly professionals who take great care in their work and put other jewelers to shame. I will be back to purchase more jewelry in the future! Love them!!!
”I didn’t even know the four C’s when I came to Ken and Patty. But I needed a ring worthy of my fiancee’s hand. I dreaded a stroll down 47th Street, and being suckered into buying a pressed, standard issue engagement ring. I wanted something unique.
I received an email back from Ken within a couple of hours, asking for a description of my fiance and any images of the sort of engagement ring I imagined. He asked questions to clarify what I meant. He and Patty then met with me to discuss the ring, and served coffee while we talked. It felt very personal. They briefly explained what they look for in stones, and what makes a quality stone. After a few days, they sourced a stone that met the description we came up with, and the price range I wanted, and invited me in to see it. They also found a setting to match it.
My fiance was thrilled. I think the highest compliment she’s received many times is, “I’ve never seen anything like that.” It’s a vintage, Art Deco setting with a yellowish diamond surrounded by sapphires. The yellow of the stone fits with the aged, vintage feel of the ring.
We will be going back to Ken and Patty for our wedding rings.

We also ordered the Flora for my wedding band. I have been emailing with Ken and he is soo nice. ”I began looking for engagement rings in May of 2012 and took note of KDD as having the organic design cues that I knew my would-be fiancee would really want in a ring. In November 2012, I made my first contact with Patty and made an appointment to meet her and Ken at the NYC showroom to see the rings in person.
I traveled in from out of town, dragging my mother and mother-in-law-to-be, for a very pleasant visit with Patty. They were the first designers I met with, and although I looked around a many rings afterwards, KDD set an early standard for the beauty of their work and their customer service that was unbeatable.
I ended up working with with Patty on a custom ring design on a rush basis. The ring was completed inperfect time and is stunning. My fiancee loves her ring and we are excited to go visit the NYC showroom to consider wedding bands and get her ring custom sized to fit perfectly.

We wanted them to endure, we wanted them to have an organic look, we wanted them to be ethical, and unique. When I saw designs by Ken + Dana online, I knew they were it. I really like to ring choices here at Ken & Dana. The design is very elegant, clean, and unique. I selected a rose gold ring. I like the ring very much and I can’t stop looking at it even when I’m in the meeting. The service is super and the price is unbelievably reasonable. (One of the shops we went to tried to charge us $400 more for ring mode cause they need to make a new ring for me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!)

”I generally tend to grade pretty harshly on reviews, but I must say rating my experience anything less than 5 stars would just be dishonest. The entire process was so painless. K&D has a fantastic product and they know it. The sales experience was great. They have truly mastered the art of the “soft sell” which was a refreshing change after getting the “hard sell” or completely ignored at other places. Patty and Ken did an excellent job of guiding me through the selection process and finding a ring that was right for my fiance. K&D rings are an excellent value and the designs are truly unique. As a total novice with very vague ideas of what I was looking for, Ken really helped me hone in on the specifics. The end result was a ring that when I surprised my girlfriend turned out to be exactly what she wanted.
The great thing about Ken & Dana Design is that they listen and offer suggestions but never try to push their own agenda they simply want to get the best result for the customer.

”I didn’t think these reviews could possibly be right, but they are. On a visit to NYC, Ken spent tons of time with me talking about exactly what I wanted – a replica of my aunt’s wedding ring (which doesn’t exist anymore). We talked and talked and talked and he took copious notes.
As they made the ring, Patty sent me photos (I’m in DC) and I made comments (“smoother, and thinner please,” for example). They were so eager to make exactly what I wanted. It arrived yesterday, and I closed my eyes as my fiance opened it and slipped it onto my finger. It felt perfect. I opened my eyes and was delighted – it’s so simple and elegant.

”I contacted them from afar (email!) after my girlfriend expressed interest in one of their designs. The design happened to be an older “model”, but that wasn’t an issue. I corresponded with Patty, who answered all my questions quickly (and I had quite a few, having never done this before ;). She was also excited for me and my girlfriend, which was pretty awesome.
Patty kept me updated on the progress of the ring, which took a week or two to make (I expect because they had to get the stone from an outside source, which Patty mentioned was a special cut) and then shipped out very quickly.

”I will start by saying that I would hands down recommend Ken and Dana Design to anyone! Not only for the quality, style, value and workmanship, but also for the personalized service, which cannot be beat. The service that we received from KDD was unparalelled – in any retail experience.
I stumpled on KDD’s website sometime last fall when, on my then boyfriend’s request for engagement ring suggestions, I scoured the internet in search of a unique aquamarine and gold ring. I am somewhat of a traditionalist, in that I wanted to wear a beautiful ring, but definetely did not want your typical white diamond in a white gold setting – it’s just not me! I knew I wanted something different and classic. You just try to find aquamarine stone (which are truly elegant) paired with yellow gold! It’s not a common request, but it’s what my heart fell for when I saw the ‘Chloe’ ring.
My fiance purchased my engagement ring, Chloe, from KDD last October. He was nervous about procuring a ring online and somewhat skeptical of the quality of the product, having never heard of this shop, but he received consolation from the helpful staff at KDD. Since we are in Ontario, Canada, the ring had to be shipped across the border which it must’ve been nerve-wracking for my fiance.
He proposed in late October on a trip to Boston at the famous Copley Fairmont. Of course he was incredibly nervous and of course I said yes, after a moment of being speechless! All I could do all night was smile and gaze at my beautiful gift!
When we started geering up for the wedding (6 months later), I had decided on a band and we purchased locally. But something wasn’t sitting right. Nevermind the lack-luster service we received from our local chain jewelery store, but after the ring was sized, the Canadian diamonds channel set in the band didn’t seem to line up right anymore and there were no little holes behind the stones, meaning I couldn’t clean them regularly! I was really discouraged and not untirely happy with the band I was meant to wear daily for life…
Meanwhile, I kept going back to the KDD website and gazing at the Isis band. My reservation was that I thought I’d never be able to wear this organic shape with my more traditionally styled ‘Chole’. I resolved that I could, if needed, wear the Chloe on my right hand and the Isis on my left (which might be a the typical way engagement rings are worn in Europe). After a few weeks I broke the news to my fiance and told him that we had to return the store bought ring and order up the Isis band because I couldn’t take my eyes off it!
It makes me so happy to know that my wedding band is made from recycled gold and conflict free diamonds. I mean, this band has a story to it beyond the fact that it is an Egyptian symbol for protection and royalty, it is up-cycled too!

”I received my new wedding ring from Ken & Dana Design last month and am head over heels in love with it! My husband and I purchased the Sundara with a sapphire center stone because of the timeless appeal of the ring and its unique look. Our wedding was rather rushed, and the purchasing of my original engagement ring and wedding band was perhaps the most rushed part of the process. We picked the ring set out in less than 5 minuets from a jeweler at our local mall, and I never felt any connection to it. ”After engagement ring shopping for almost a year, we finally decided on rings from the Ken + Dana Design bridal collection.
Because we are a same sex couple, however, we have been riding the up and downs of the California Proposition 8 trial. As it stands for the time being, we can not marry in our home state. My boyfriend and I went there first to look at engagement rings and after looking at a few other places we went back to Ken & Dana’s and bought the first ring I tried on because nothing else really compared to it. Their designs are so intricate and unique! My stone was a very original ocean blue sapphire that was very reasonably priced. As for Ken, Dana and Radika, they were just the most pleasant down to earth people to deal with. They were very patient with me, upfront, and even came in before they open because the time was good for me. My fiance and I had such a wonderful experience with Ken. As all the other reviews say, Ken was incredibly helpful, informative, flexible and willing to work with us. As most New Yorkers, the two of us have pretty hectic schedules, so he agreed to meet with us on a Saturday evening for the first appt, which was nice enough to begin with. Then, due to summer wknd train madness, we were an HOUR late for our appt. !! But Ken was kind, gracious, and still met with us to discuss the ring…
Speaking of which, it’s exactly what we wanted. My fiance’s mother had her engagement ring center stone reset, and so she gave Tim, my fiance, the original setting – the one she wore for 25 years of her marriage. Needless to say, it held a lot of value & significance for both of us, and we wanted to find a beautiful sapphire for the center. Tim was a little nervous about handing the ring over to someone else, but we knew that we were in good hands from the moment we met with Ken.
He talked with us about what we were looking for, measured us both (in case we decide to go with one of their gorgeous wedding band designs as well), photocopied the ring as a receipt of holding, and said he’d be in touch soon with some choices.
Not a week later, he emailed to let us know he’d found a couple stones, one in particular, that he thought would work well. He sent a photograph… and we both fell in love! The stone he found was perfect and completed the ring more beautifully than either of us could have imagined. After admiring their diverse designs, I finally made a decision and bought this stunning, long “runway” necklace that was used to style Geren Ford’s SS10 runway show (http://shop.kenanddana…). ”When I started to talk about the possibility of an engagement in the near future, one of my girlfriend’s friends sent her a link to some of ken + dana’s designs that had been featured in a blog post somewhere. My girlfriend absolutely loved the rings. Noted.
I think it’s silly to not involve your gilfriend in the purchase of an extremely significant piece of jewelry that she’ll be wearing for the rest of her life, so I ordered a sample of one of ken + dana’s rings and had it sent to us. My girlfriend said that it was “the one.” That was good enough for me.
We took a trip down to New York to see their pieces in person; they were gorgeous, and Ken even agreed to go into the studio on Sunday to see us and answer any questions we had. He was very helpful and friendly — he even gave us an awesome, awesome lunch recommendation after the place we’d meant to go turned out to be closed.
I ended up buying a diamond at home, in Boston, and having it sent back to New York with a friend; they had the ring made within two weeks and shipped to me. I took it to an independent gemologist and appraiser, who said that it was the most unique ring he’d seen all year, and that it looked to be very well-crafted.
Ken was extremely helpful throughout the entire process, answering any emails/phone calls I sent his way, which is great when you’re having such an important thing built in a different city, away from your own two eyes. And the ring? It’s gorgeous — even to someone such as myself, who doesn’t care much for jewelry. My girlfriend — er, fiancee — is absolutely in love with it. Can’t recommend ken + dana highly enough! ”These guys rule! I first stumbled across their website in a search for a “non-conventional” engagement ring. I could not be happier with this discovery.
From the get-go, Ken was incredibly easy to work with. He helped me turn my idea into a product that was exactly what I was looking for. He quickly sourced a number of stones that fit my criteria and objectively helped me make a decision. He gave good advice in terms of where I would be overpaying for something and not really getting the value out of it. He gave great critiques of each ring, each metal, each stone, that were honest and also showed that he was paying very close attention to what I was looking for. He was really just helpful, nice, creative, and easygoing. No pressure. Zero attitude. And he followed thru on every promise. I couldn’t give enough praise to this, in what I’m sure can easily turn into a stressful not to mention expensive experience

When first inquired about the ring, and Ken immediately took my call. Ken was an active listener and was very focused on honing in on precisely what I wanted. In addition to the wonderful service, the execution is breathtaking. The ring looks so brilliant and gorgeous, it is as if it is plugged in! Once we had the stone and setting selected, the ring was created within two weeks. For information’s sake, the ring is a lab created blue sapphire, set in palladium, haloed with pave diamonds. The return policy is a very nice safety net, though one that I am very glad that I did not have to use. I believe that I paid a very fair price for the ring, and I made no compromises about the quality of our requirements.

I spent a long time looking at engagement rings, online and in person, and really came to feel that they all look alike. I’ve heard women get all worked up about whether a ring has 6 prongs instead of 4, as if this is the stuff of art. I found ken + dana on the web, in a search for Gaudi-inspired designs. I love their use of natural forms—leafy shapes, branching, twists and swoops—in many of their engagement rings.
I live in SF, but was able to visit the studio in NYC in December. We talked to Ken in person: he was friendly and helpful, answering our questions and offering advice. I also love that they think outside the “diamond + platinum/yellow-gold” box. Ken showed us a combination of a yellow-gold ring with a citrine in it, paired with a rose-gold band; the yellow stone really brought out the warmth of the rose gold. We ended up choosing a yellow diamond (which we purchased from another source) and the yellow-gold setting. We spent a long time researching stones, and Ken helped answer some of our questions, and found examples of other yellow gold + yellow diamond rings, so we could tell if we liked the combination. We’re planning to come back to get the rose-gold wedding band.

After an utterly disappointing trip to Smythe Jewlers, I realized I was going to have to come up with something a little more original if I wanted an exceptional engagement ring for my fiancee to be. I stumbled onto the Ken and Dana website during my internet perusal, and I fell in love with their Organic Aurora Engagement ring. It is absolutely stunning, and I knew it would be perfect for my lady.
I live in Baltimore and went up to NYC for the day to meet with Ken, Dana, and Radika. They were incredibly welcoming from the moment I got there and were happy to spend over an hour with me talking about different settings, their process, and answering all of my questions. They were incredibly personable, and it felt right having these people create the ring that I would give to my future wife.
The ring turned out beautifully, and they were able to incorporate a family diamond that I had provided. They shipped it down to me in Maryland, and I have been engaged since October.
We were so thrilled with the final product that we are planning on asking them to create our wedding bands as well!

He proposed to me March 10, 2010 (sadly, the day Corey Haim died), while we were visiting our favorite place on Earth, New York. The ring ended up being too big, he called Ken + Dana and they invited us to their studio that same day, measured my finger, and resized my ring, at no additional charge. They even paid the shipping cost to have it sent back to us in Austin, TX.
The ring arrived, looking ever so gorgeous and I felt like the happiest girl alive. My fiance kept in contact with them via email, as they were a complete pleasure to work with…meet them if you have a chance, they are awesome guys and its neat to see their work space. They take pride in their art, and their jewellery truly is a work of art.
